CHRIS – TO – PHER

SHOWCASE: UNIT

(TRANSFORM photography by Rick Harrison)

Some rather snazzy pieces of work from UNIT, a design collective/collaboration between Si Billam and James Sanderson based in Leeds, UK.

I won’t do a long spiel about them or waffle on. They are designers/ typographers/ illustrators/ image makers who are always chasing intriguing ideas, their work is strong enough to talk for me. Enjoy!

Si has promised me more exciting new work is on the way for me to put up on here. Watch this space amigos!

Check out the website here.

Right, here we go. Blogging time.

I blog in order to share things that I am thinking of. The people I showcase are artists and designers that I admire and respect. The images I show that I have produced are just a glimpse into what makes me tick creatively and visually. Lets hope I can keep it up. I need to open up my Behance profile, it’s been a while on there, lots of talented people to showcase.

I took a trip over to Manchester the other weekend, it was work related so I couldn’t spend much time there but I enjoyed my walk from the train station to my destination and back. I took some snaps of a few things that interested me.

I liked this old cracked type on this old crack door. Forgotten.

Love the bold stencil font on this battered and scratched on door. People leaving there mark, like a dog pissing on a tree.

LINDA’S PANTRY. nuff said.

Also at Linda’s Pantry was this offer you must refuse. It made me chuckle.

This part of town didn’t have much traffic, foot or vehicle. No need to replace the latest advert, just all torn down and pasted over.

I enjoy finding patterns of irregularity.

Back in Leeds afterwards, walked over the canal. The juxtaposition (woo got to say that monster of a word in this post) of these two signs is interesting and annoying at the same time. The thoughtful and the thoughtless.

I was fortunate to meet the wonderful Kristyna Baczynski today and she gave me these amazing little paper trinkets and treats. The last one is a sticker and it is my favourite and most appropriate to me at my current state of looking for work. I need to choose what I stick it on carefully. I may have to buy a print of this.

Her illustrations transport you into a wonderful world of imagination. So transport yourself over to her webspace.

Does anyone understand this? My grandma says this at every toast or time where we drink at the dinner table or something. I understood after about 20 years of hearing it and being confused. It’s a nice little toast

Amazing work from Andy Mangold. Not only beautiful illustration and packaging design but he actually made the rubber band gun as well. Playful and child like, if not on the more dangerous side. We all flung rubber bands as a child.
